Accused Arrested After Firing at Child During Ceremony

May 3, 2026: A shocking incident unfolded in Kasganj where a 9-year-old boy was allegedly shot dead after refusing to fetch water for a man during a ceremony. The incident took place in Yakutganj village during a naming function, when the accused, identified as Dhanesh Yadav, reportedly fired at the child in a fit of rage.

According to police, the boy, Yashpal, was attending the event with his father when the accused, who was consuming alcohol, asked him to bring water. When the child refused, the accused allegedly shot him in the abdomen and fled the scene. The injured boy was rushed to a local hospital and later referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Aligarh, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police registered a case initially under attempt to murder provisions, later adding murder charges after the boy’s death. The accused was arrested soon after, and the weapon used in the crime was recovered. Authorities have launched further investigation into the incident.
