Bridge Collapse in Jammu Traps Workers During Repair Work

May 1, 2026: A portion of a small bridge near Ban Talab collapsed on Friday, trapping several workers engaged in repair work. The bridge, reportedly built in 2002, gave way while maintenance was underway, triggering panic at the site.

According to initial reports, six labourers working beneath the structure were caught under the debris when a section suddenly collapsed. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and managed to pull out two workers safely, while four others remain trapped.

Authorities have launched an intensive rescue operation, with teams continuing efforts to locate and extract those still buried under the rubble. Officials are monitoring the situation closely as the operation continues.
