Second phase exams under new two-board system to help students improve scores

April 23, 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education has announced the schedule for the Class 10 second board examinations, set to begin on May 15 with the Mathematics paper and conclude on May 21 with Social Science. Officials said admit cards will soon be available on the board’s official website, while details regarding the number of students appearing will be released shortly.

Under the new two-board examination system aligned with the National Education Policy, only students who appeared in the main board exams are eligible to take the second exam to improve their performance. Candidates can choose up to three subjects from science, mathematics, social science, and languages for improvement.

The main board results, declared on April 15, recorded a slight improvement in overall performance, with a 93.70% pass rate. Final results for 2026 will be calculated by combining scores from both the main and second examinations, marking a shift aimed at reducing the high-pressure nature of board exams.
