May 26, 2026: Residents across multiple areas in Chennai are set to experience scheduled power cuts on Wednesday, May 27, as the Electricity Board carries out routine maintenance work to strengthen uninterrupted electricity supply in the city. The shutdown will mainly affect neighbourhoods under the Teynampet zone.
According to officials, the maintenance activities will include repair work and replacement of electrical lines and related infrastructure. Authorities said the temporary suspension is necessary to improve long-term reliability and prevent unexpected disruptions in the future.
The Electricity Board has assured residents that power supply is expected to resume by around 2 pm after the completion of the scheduled work. Consumers have been advised to plan their day accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period.
