The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has defended its decision after criticism over lack of women
June 3, 2026: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) announced three spokespersons ahead of its planned protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, naming journalist Saurav Das, filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya and former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka. The announcement quickly drew criticism on social media over the absence of women and the lack of representation from Dalit, Adivasi, Muslim and LGBTQ communities, with users questioning the inclusivity of the movement’s leadership structure.
Responding to the backlash, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said that women members of the organisation were offered spokesperson roles but chose not to take on public-facing positions due to concerns over online abuse and threats. He said the movement respects their decision and clarified that the absence of women in the list was not intentional exclusion.
Dipke further said the organisation is open to welcoming more women who are willing to step forward as spokespersons in the future. The CJP protest, scheduled for June 6, is focused on alleged irregularities and paper leaks in CBSE, NEET and CUET examinations, with climate activist Sonam Wangchuk also extending support and indicating he may join the demonstration if no action is taken on the issues raised.
