The IMD has predicted light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds in Delhi at the beginning of the week
June 21, 2026: Delhi is expected to witness pleasant weather conditions at the start of the week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light rain, thunderstorms and strong winds on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, the national capital may experience a partly cloudy sky with very light rain, lightning and gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph, with speeds potentially touching 60 kmph. Maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 35°C and 37°C, while the minimum temperature may stay around 28.8°C.
Similar weather is expected on Monday, with cloudy skies, light rainfall and thunderstorms likely during the afternoon or evening hours. Daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 37°C and 39°C, while nighttime temperatures may remain between 26°C and 28°C. From Tuesday onwards, rainfall activity is expected to reduce, although cloudy conditions are likely to continue until Saturday, June 27. Maximum temperatures may gradually rise to between 37°C and 40°C during the week.
Across the country, light to moderate rainfall is forecast in Jammu and Kashmir, while Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan may witness isolated showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds. Heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala and Coastal Karnataka. Monsoon activity is also likely to intensify over Konkan and Goa, while Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Telangana and several southern states are expected to receive widespread rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
