CM Yogi Orders Probe After Yamuna Boat Tragedy in Hamirpur

Six people, including children, are missing after a boat overturned in the Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district, while three others were rescued safely.

May 7, 2026: A boat carrying villagers capsized in the Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district on Wednesday evening, leaving six people missing, including several children. The incident occurred near Kutubpur Patiya hamlet under the Kurara police station area when nine passengers were returning from a river island.

According to police, the boat lost balance in the middle of the river and overturned around 7 pm. The boatman managed to rescue three people, while six others, including children aged between five and eleven years, remain untraced. Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have launched a large-scale search operation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to intensify rescue efforts and ordered an investigation into the incident. He also instructed district authorities to personally monitor the operation and ensure assistance to the affected families.
