Authorities across Uttar Pradesh have launched extensive inspections of coaching centres, libraries, schools, hotels

June 25, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified inspections of coaching centres, libraries and educational institutions across the state after the Aliganj fire tragedy in Lucknow claimed 15 lives. Joint teams comprising officials from development authorities, fire departments, electricity departments and local administrations have been conducting surprise checks to identify safety violations. In Lucknow, several coaching institutes were sealed after inspectors found unauthorized construction, encroachments, inadequate evacuation routes and poor fire safety arrangements.

The enforcement drive has expanded to districts including Bahraich, Mathura, Aligarh, Jalaun, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad. Authorities reported sealing multiple coaching centres, libraries, guest houses and hotels for operating without proper registrations, approved building plans, emergency exits or fire-fighting systems. Officials said institutions failing to comply with safety regulations have been issued notices, while several functioning centres were temporarily vacated until deficiencies are addressed.

District administrations have formed special inspection teams to verify fire safety compliance, commercial-use permissions, structural stability and emergency preparedness. Officials stressed that there would be no compromise on student safety and warned that establishments violating regulations would face sealing and legal action. The statewide crackdown is expected to continue in the coming days as authorities work to prevent similar tragedies and strengthen public safety standards.
