The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recruitment drive for 2026 has begun, drawing attention not only for new job openings but also for the expected salary revisions under the proposed 8th Pay Commission. While official recommendations are yet to be finalised, early projections based on possible fitment factors suggest a substantial increase in pay and allowances for personnel across all ranks.

The 8th Pay Commission is expected to revise salaries using fitment factors of 2.08, 2.28, and 2.57, which would directly impact basic pay, House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TA).

Lower Ranks: Head Constable Pay Could Double

For a Head Constable with a current basic pay of ₹25,500, the revised salary could rise significantly depending on the final fitment factor. The projected basic pay may range from approximately ₹53,040 to ₹65,535.

Along with this, allowances are also expected to increase:

  • HRA could rise from about ₹12,730 to ₹15,728
  • TA may increase from ₹7,488 to ₹9,252

This shows a clear upward revision in overall monthly earnings for lower-ranked personnel.

Mid-Level Officers: Inspectors and Assistant Commandants

For Inspectors, whose current basic pay stands at ₹44,900, the revised salary could range between ₹93,392 and ₹115,393.

Their allowances are also expected to grow proportionally:

  • HRA could increase from ₹22,414 to ₹27,694
  • TA may rise to around ₹9,252

For Assistant Commandants, who currently receive a basic pay of ₹56,100, the revised pay structure may fall between ₹116,688 and ₹144,177 depending on the fitment factor applied.

Their allowances could also see notable growth:

  • HRA from ₹28,005 to ₹34,602
  • TA up to ₹18,504

Senior Ranks: Major Salary Jump Expected

At higher levels, the increase becomes even more significant. Commandants with a current basic pay of ₹1,23,100 may see salaries revised between ₹256,048 and ₹316,367.

Similarly, Inspector Generals earning ₹1,44,200 could see revised pay ranging from ₹299,936 to ₹370,594.

Allowances at these levels are also expected to rise sharply, with HRA and TA increasing in line with the revised pay structure.

What the Projections Mean

These figures are based on expected formulas under discussion for the 8th Pay Commission and are not final. However, they indicate a substantial financial uplift across all ranks of the CRPF, from constables to senior officers.

The projected hike reflects ongoing efforts to align paramilitary salaries with inflation, cost of living, and operational demands of security personnel.

Once officially implemented, the revised structure could significantly improve overall compensation for CRPF personnel, making the 2026 recruitment cycle particularly attractive for aspirants.
