May 7, 2026: Akhilesh Yadav met Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee at the TMC supremo’s residence in Kolkata on Thursday, expressing solidarity after the party’s heavy defeat in the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. According to party sources quoted by ANI, Akhilesh told Mamata, “Didi, you have not lost,” while praising the fight put up by the Trinamool Congress during the elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party secured a sweeping victory in the elections, winning 207 seats in the 294-member Assembly and ending the TMC’s 15-year rule in the state. The All India Trinamool Congress managed to win only 80 seats, marking one of the party’s biggest electoral defeats under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership.
