Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi demanded Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation
July 22, 2026: Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday outlined three key demands before the Centre over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy. He called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, strict action against those responsible for the alleged police action on student protesters, and a public expression of regret from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing the issue, Rahul Gandhi criticised the government’s handling of the protests, alleging that students demonstrating peacefully for a fair and transparent education system were met with heavy security deployment instead of dialogue. He questioned the Centre’s response and said the concerns raised by students deserved accountability rather than suppression.
Gandhi further claimed that students across the country were facing immense mental stress due to the controversy and alleged that several had died by suicide amid the ongoing examination crisis. He reiterated that the government must address the students’ concerns, ensure accountability, and restore confidence in the country’s education system.
