May 3, 2026: Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak on Sunday reacted to reports of FIRs being filed against him in Punjab, saying he has not received any official communication so far. The development comes days after his exit from the Aam Aadmi Party and switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Pathak said he was waiting for a copy of the FIR to respond and added that any such action could be politically motivated.

Sources earlier claimed that two FIRs had been registered under non-bailable sections, with police reportedly making efforts to trace him. The reports triggered a political row, especially as Pathak is among several MPs who recently left AAP, impacting the party’s strength in the Rajya Sabha ahead of elections. However, details regarding the exact charges remain unclear.

The BJP has accused the AAP-led Punjab government of political vendetta, with state BJP chief Sunil Jakhar criticising the move. Meanwhile, AAP leaders said they had no official information about the FIRs beyond media reports. The situation has added to the ongoing political tensions in the state.
