Students allege question paper leak and mismanagement during the April 26 FTII entrance exam, while the institute cites operational disruptions and schedules a nationwide re-test on July 12.
June 2, 2026: The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, has come under scrutiny amid allegations of a question paper leak during its entrance examination held on April 26. While FTII has maintained that a re-test was necessitated by “significant operational disruptions” at the Delhi examination centre, several students have claimed that photocopied question papers were distributed after long delays. Videos circulating on social media show candidates raising concerns over the conduct of the exam. In one such video, FTII professor and observer Mandar Digrajkar is seen informing students that the examination had been cancelled, though he declined to explain the reason.
The FTII Students’ Association has strongly criticised the handling of the examination, alleging serious irregularities and mismanagement. In an official statement, the association claimed that the integrity of the FTII Entrance Test 2025-26 had been compromised across multiple centres and pledged support for efforts aimed at ensuring a fair resolution. Following the controversy, FTII cancelled the original examination and announced a nationwide re-test scheduled for July 12. Candidates who appeared for the April exam have been allowed to change their examination centres through the institute’s portal, while fresh admit cards will be available from June 26.
The controversy comes amid broader concerns surrounding national examinations. Earlier this month, the National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled NEET-UG 2026 following a paper leak that is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). At the same time, the CBSE has faced criticism over its newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for Class 12 evaluations. Students reported issues including blurred scans, missing pages, and unevaluated answers. While CBSE has defended the system as transparent and equitable, it acknowledged certain technical vulnerabilities and stated that cybersecurity experts and IIT teams have been engaged to strengthen the process.
