The Centre has assured that petrol, diesel, natural gas and LPG supplies remain stable across India

June 18, 2026: The Centre on Thursday reassured consumers that fuel and cooking gas supplies remain stable across the country despite global attention on energy markets following the recent US-Iran peace agreement. Addressing a press briefing in New Delhi, Petroleum Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said India’s fuel distribution network is functioning normally and there is no disruption in the supply chain.

According to the ministry, the supply of petrol, diesel, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) remains steady nationwide. Sharma stated that Indian refineries are operating at optimum capacity, while crude oil inventories are being maintained at adequate levels to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products. Oil marketing companies, she added, continue to meet consumer demand without any difficulties.

The government also highlighted improvements in LPG distribution, noting that the backlog in deliveries has fallen to just 2.1 days. The assurance comes as global energy markets closely monitor developments in the Middle East and their possible impact on crude oil prices and supply chains. While the US-Iran agreement has raised hopes of regional stability, authorities remain vigilant regarding any changes that could affect international energy markets.
