A viral video purportedly from Tamil Nadu’s Hosur shows a truck driver confronting a police officer during a roadside check

July 21, 2026: A video purportedly recorded near Hosur in Tamil Nadu has gone viral on social media, showing a truck driver confronting a police officer during a roadside inspection. The clip, widely shared by supporters of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), has triggered online discussions. However, the authenticity of the video and the claims made in it have not been independently verified.

In the video, the truck driver, who claims to be from a northern Indian state, questions a police officer carrying a handheld traffic enforcement device. The driver alleges that his container truck was empty and did not even have a seal, claiming there was no traffic violation despite the officer allegedly demanding money. During the exchange, the officer asks for the vehicle’s documents, while the driver responds by saying he has Chief Minister Vijay’s contact and would send him the video along with a complaint. The officer is then heard saying that he was only conducting a routine inspection.

The video surfaced weeks after Chief Minister Vijay urged citizens to refuse paying bribes and report officials seeking illegal payments during a public meeting in Karur. The Tamil Nadu government has also promoted multiple channels, including WhatsApp, email and helpline services operated by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), for reporting corruption. So far, the Tamil Nadu Police have not issued an official statement on the viral clip, and it remains unclear whether any formal complaint has been lodged.
