The INDIA bloc agreed on five major decisions, including raising concerns over electoral rolls
June 8, 2026: The INDIA bloc held a crucial meeting at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on Monday, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge announcing that 25 opposition parties participated in the discussions. Kharge said the alliance reached a consensus on five key decisions, including writing to the Chief Justice of India over concerns related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged voting irregularities. The opposition also unanimously demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and called for an all-party meeting to discuss inflation, unemployment, farmers’ issues, and the broader economic situation.
The alliance further decided to hold coordination meetings every two months, with the next gathering scheduled in Hyderabad on August 8. Leaders also agreed to maintain daily coordination during Parliament sessions to ensure a united approach on important national issues. According to Kharge, opposition parties will continue to work together both inside Parliament and through public outreach campaigns across the country.
During the meeting, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reportedly launched a sharp attack on the Centre over foreign policy, inflation, unemployment, and examination-related controversies. Sources said Gandhi questioned the government’s handling of the West Asia crisis and the proposed India-US trade deal, alleging that farmers’ interests had been compromised. He also raised concerns over paper leak incidents and urged opposition parties to jointly campaign on issues affecting youth, farmers, and ordinary citizens, while highlighting the alliance’s united stand on delimitation as an example of collective political strength.
