Vice Admiral AN Pramod said Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s military strength, precision strike capability, and readiness to counter future threats.

May 7, 2026: Speaking on the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, A. N. Pramod said India exposed Pakistan’s “nuclear blackmail” by carrying out precision strikes deep inside Pakistani territory. He stated that India targeted terror hubs using long-range weapons, proving the country’s strategic resolve and operational preparedness. According to him, the growing use of autonomous and uncrewed systems in modern warfare has further highlighted the need to rapidly integrate such technologies into India’s defence structure.

The operation, launched on May 7, 2025, reportedly targeted nine major terrorist launch pads across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Indian forces claimed to have dismantled infrastructure linked to terror groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also reiterated that India did not succumb to Pakistan’s alleged nuclear threats during the military action.

Vice Admiral Pramod praised the role of indigenous naval platforms, including the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the Kolkata and Visakhapatnam class destroyers, saying their performance reflected India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Air Staff Awadhesh Kumar Bharti claimed Indian forces struck 11 Pakistani airfields and destroyed 13 Pakistani aircraft during the operation. He said one high-value airborne target was hit from a distance exceeding 300 kilometres. Warning against future provocations, Pramod stated that India’s next response would focus on “sustained overmatch” and shaping the battlefield from the very beginning.
