A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband with the help of her lover
June 14, 2026: A 34-year-old man, identified as Sachin Dagar, was allegedly murdered by his wife and her lover in Naurojpur Gurjar village of Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district. According to police, the accused attempted to disguise the crime as a case of pesticide poisoning. Sachin’s wife, Rachna, has been arrested, while her alleged lover Sonu remains absconding. The incident came to light after family members noticed suspicious marks on the victim’s neck during funeral preparations.
According to the police investigation, Rachna informed Sachin’s family that he had fallen ill after spraying pesticides in the fields. However, CCTV footage from a neighboring house reportedly showed a man entering the victim’s home late at night and leaving in the early hours of the morning. During questioning, Rachna allegedly confessed that she mixed sedative tablets into kheer served to her husband. After he fell asleep, she called Sonu to the house, where the two allegedly suffocated him using a pillow.
Police said the accused remained inside the house for several hours after the murder before Sonu left the premises. During interrogation, Rachna revealed that she met Sonu through Instagram and later developed a relationship with him. She also claimed she was unhappy in her marriage. Baghpat Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Rai said the post-mortem report and CCTV footage supported the investigation. A manhunt has been launched to arrest Sonu, while further investigation is underway.
