AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal thanked voters in Punjab after the party’s sweeping victory in urban local body elections
May 29, 2026: Arvind Kejriwal, national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Friday expressed gratitude to the people of Punjab after the party secured a strong majority in urban local body elections across the state. He described the result as a “spectacular” victory and said it reflected public approval of the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s work.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said the victory was especially significant in urban areas, which are considered crucial ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for early next year. He added that the people had “applauded the work” of the state government and said AAP would continue its governance approach in the same direction.
Targeting the BJP, which he referred to as the “ED party,” Kejriwal alleged that voters had responded against what he described as harassment through central agency actions against traders and political workers in Punjab. He claimed that the public had rejected such practices in the elections, while also linking the result to broader political dissatisfaction. The party maintained that the mandate strengthens its position in Punjab ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.
