Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the Centre over alleged NEET paper leaks

May 29, 2026: Rahul Gandhi has launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the handling of the NEET, alleging that India’s youth has lost faith in the ruling system and examination process. Citing interactions with NEET aspirants, he claimed that students were aware of question papers being circulated through social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram, while authorities failed to take effective action.

In a social media post, Gandhi said students had shared detailed accounts of how alleged paper leak networks operate, including how candidates gain access to leaked materials. He argued that students themselves appeared more informed about the system’s flaws than the agencies responsible for conducting the exam. The remarks come amid growing scrutiny of the National Testing Agency (NTA) following repeated allegations of exam irregularities.

Calling for structural reforms, Gandhi said the examination system must be rebuilt with the involvement of students, teachers and subject experts to ensure transparency and fairness. His comments come as the issue continues to be debated in the Supreme Court, which recently observed that recurring lapses in NEET were causing trauma to students and families. The court also stressed the need for stronger accountability within the testing system and asked the Centre to submit details of corrective measures being taken.
