An investigation has intensified in Bhopal following the death of Twisha Sharma, with police charging her husband Samarth Singh and his mother in connection with the case. The development has also brought renewed attention to Singh’s professional and academic background.

Academic and Professional Background

Samarth Singh is an advocate who completed his B.A. LL.B. (Hons) from National Law School of India University and reportedly participated in an exchange programme at Ghent University in Belgium.

He has been practising law since 2018 and describes himself as an independent litigator handling cases across Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Indore, covering areas such as criminal defence, service law, and consumer disputes.

Case Details and Allegations

Twisha Sharma, who married Samarth Singh in December 2025, was found dead at her residence in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, 2026—just months after the wedding.

Her family has alleged harassment and abuse following the marriage and has demanded a thorough investigation, including a re-examination of evidence and a transfer of the probe outside Madhya Pradesh.

Legal Action and Investigation Status

A court in Bhopal has rejected Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail plea. Meanwhile, his mother, a retired judicial officer, has already received anticipatory bail.

Police have also announced a reward for information leading to Singh, who has reportedly not been located since the incident. Investigations are ongoing.

Defence Version

The defence has denied allegations related to dowry harassment and has instead raised counter-claims regarding Twisha Sharma’s personal circumstances and mental health, which are also being examined as part of the case.
