A suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operative arrested in Jammu and Kashmir allegedly underwent a hair transplant in Srinagar while operating in the Valley.
May 17, 2026: A Pakistani national identified as Mohammed Usman Jatt, alias ‘Chinese’, who was allegedly sent by Lashkar-e-Taiba to establish sleeper cells and carry out attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly ended up undergoing a hair transplant procedure in Srinagar. According to investigators, Jatt was arrested in April by Srinagar Police along with another alleged LeT operative, Abdullah alias Abu Hureira, and the case has now been handed over to the National Investigation Agency.
During interrogation, officials claimed Jatt told investigators that his perception of Kashmir changed after arriving in the Valley and seeing normal daily life. He allegedly revealed that he had struggled with severe hair loss for years and believed hair restoration treatment was only available in Western countries. Investigators said he was introduced to a Srinagar-based contact linked to an Over Ground Worker (OGW) network, who helped him access a local clinic for the treatment.
Police sources told investigators that the information provided by Jatt helped authorities dismantle an OGW network operating in parts of North Kashmir and Srinagar. After the procedure, he allegedly travelled through Jammu and Punjab before reaching Malerkotla, where he reportedly planned to obtain fake Indian identity documents and eventually escape to the Gulf using forged papers.
