Cyberabad Police have issued a look-out circular against Bandi Sai Bhageerath in a POCSO case involving allegations of sexual harassment of a minor girl

May 16, 2026: A look-out circular has been issued against Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in connection with a case registered under the POCSO Act in Hyderabad. According to police officials, the circular was issued to prevent Bhageerath from leaving the country as searches continue to trace and arrest him. The development came after the Telangana High Court refused to grant interim relief to him while reserving orders on his anticipatory bail plea until May 21.

The case was filed on May 8 based on a complaint by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, who alleged that Bhageerath was in a relationship with her daughter and sexually harassed her. After recording the girl’s statement, police added stricter provisions under the POCSO Act, including charges related to penetrative sexual assault. Bhageerath also filed a counter-complaint alleging that the girl’s family pressured him to marry her and later threatened false cases when he refused.

During the court hearing, the survivor’s counsel alleged that four other girls had also faced harassment and claimed attempts were made to influence the investigation. The prosecution argued that investigators had gathered substantial evidence after recording the survivor’s statement. Meanwhile, Bhageerath’s legal team contended that the allegations under the POCSO Act were added later with “mala fide intent” and argued that the original complaint did not establish penetrative sexual assault.
