TMC MP Mahua Moitra alleged she was attacked by “BJP goons” at a highway dhaba
July 1, 2026: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on Tuesday alleged that she was attacked by what she described as “BJP goons” while travelling in West Bengal. In a post on social media, the Krishnanagar MP claimed that the incident took place at a highway dhaba near Plassey and accused the mob of attempting to intimidate her.
In another post, Moitra tagged the West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) and the state police, alleging that officers had been present at the location for more than two hours but had failed to disperse the crowd. She claimed the mob intended to throw eggs and stones at her vehicle as she attempted to leave the area.
Moitra urged the police to intervene and restore order, stating that they should carry out their duty by dispersing the gathering. There was no immediate response from the West Bengal Police or the BJP regarding her allegations at the time of reporting.
