A man dressed as a cockroach staged a dramatic protest outside a civic office in Mathura as the viral “Cockroach Janta Party” trend continues to dominate social media platforms.
May 22, 2026: The viral Cockroach Janta Party trend has now moved beyond social media and onto the streets after a man in Mathura staged a protest dressed as a cockroach outside a civic body office. A video of the unusual protest quickly went viral online, showing the man dancing, crawling up stairs and performing theatrically while wearing a cockroach costume complete with antennae and face paint. A parody song titled “Warna Cockroach Aa Jayega” played in the background during the protest.
The protest sparked mixed reactions online, with social media users flooding comment sections with jokes, memes and political remarks. Some users described the protest as another example of internet culture spilling into real life, while others joked that someone should “carry black hit” spray to the protest. The movement has become particularly popular among Gen Z users, who have transformed it into a meme-driven online campaign featuring parody songs, reels and satire-heavy political commentary.
Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janta Party describes itself as a satirical “political front of the youth, by the youth, for the youth.” The movement claims to represent unemployed and chronically online youth frustrated with current issues. Its Instagram page reportedly crossed millions of followers and briefly overtook the follower count of Bharatiya Janata Party on the platform. Dipke recently urged supporters to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak controversy and has also alleged receiving death threats amid the movement’s rising popularity.
