A major fire broke out at a restaurant near Govindpuri Flyover in Delhi’s Kalkaji area

June 14, 2026: A massive fire broke out at a restaurant near the Govindpuri Flyover in Delhi’s Kalkaji area, causing panic among residents and nearby shopkeepers. According to preliminary reports, the blaze started inside the restaurant during the afternoon and spread rapidly through the structure. Eyewitnesses claimed that sparks from a working tandoor may have ignited temporary covering materials, allowing the flames to engulf large sections of the building within minutes.

As the fire intensified, at least three commercial gas cylinders reportedly exploded, further fueling the blaze and creating a dangerous situation in the area. The Delhi Fire Service rushed multiple fire tenders to the spot and launched an extensive firefighting operation. Thick smoke could be seen rising from the building as firefighters worked to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent properties.

A rescue operation was also carried out during the emergency, with several people evacuated safely from the affected premises. Local residents reported that an elderly woman was among those rescued in time. Fortunately, no casualties or serious injuries have been reported so far. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident and are examining whether safety violations, improper cylinder storage, or other factors contributed to the fire. The extent of the property damage is currently being assessed.
