A tree collapsed on a school bus carrying 13 children in Mumbai’s Chembur, leaving one student dead and several others injured.
June 30, 2026: A tragic incident took place in Mumbai’s Chembur on Tuesday after a large tree collapsed onto a school bus carrying 13 children. The accident occurred on Road No. 11 at around 3 pm. All 12 students inside the bus were rescued by the conductor with the help of local residents. Four students suffered minor injuries, while one boy was critically injured.
The critically injured student, identified as 11-year-old Vihan Shrivastav, later succumbed to his injuries. Four other students are receiving treatment at Zen Hospital. Doctors confirmed that the injured children sustained minor injuries and are currently in stable condition.
Civic officials said rescue operations were launched immediately after the incident to free the trapped student. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the tree collapse while local officials continue to monitor the condition of the injured children.
