Chaos erupted during the NEET UG 2026 examination at an exam centre in Medininagar, Jharkhand, after students were allegedly given question papers in the wrong language, triggering protests and confusion.
The incident occurred at Yodh Singh Namdhari Mahila College, where Hindi-medium candidates claimed they were handed English-language question papers. The mix-up led to unrest inside the examination hall, with students raising concerns over mismanagement and fairness.
Protests, Delay And Administrative Intervention
As tensions escalated, authorities were alerted and senior district officials rushed to the centre to manage the situation. The exam, originally scheduled from 2 pm to 5:20 pm, was significantly delayed due to the disruption.
Following directions from the National Testing Agency (NTA), corrective measures were implemented, and the issue was eventually resolved. The examination resumed after 6 pm, allowing candidates to complete their papers.
‘Technical Error’, Says Administration
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sulochana Meena attributed the incident to a technical glitch.
“The problem was caused by a technical error, which led to the distribution of incorrect question papers,” she said, adding that the issue had been rectified and students were able to finish their exams peacefully.
Only One Centre Affected
Officials confirmed that the problem was limited to the Mahila College centre. Other examination centres in Palamu district—including KG Girls School, District School, and Girivar High School—conducted the exam without any reported issues.
Probe Ordered
Given the seriousness of the lapse, senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat and Superintendent of Police Kapil Chaudhary, remained at the centre until late evening to oversee the situation.
The district administration has launched an investigation into the incident to determine accountability and prevent similar disruptions in the future.
