PM Modi invokes Maa Kali while Amit Shah warns of central forces’ presence as campaigning ends before crucial voting phase.
April 27, 2026: As campaigning ended in West Bengal ahead of the April 29 voting phase, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah made strong last-minute appeals to voters. In an open letter, Modi struck a spiritual chord by invoking Maa Kali, describing his campaign journey as a “pilgrimage” that energized him despite the intense schedule.
Positioning the Bharatiya Janata Party as the agent of change, Modi highlighted aspirations of youth, women, farmers, and workers, saying Bengal was ready to move beyond fear toward development and trust. He emphasized that voters were eager for opportunities, safety, and progress.
Meanwhile, Shah intensified the campaign with a strong message aimed at Mamata Banerjee, stating that central forces would remain in the state for at least 60 days even after the elections. Addressing a rally in Behala, he urged voters not to fear intimidation, assuring them of security by central forces. With voting set for April 29 and results on May 4, the high-stakes contest has reached a dramatic finish.
