A TMC councillor in North 24 Parganas was arrested after residents accused him of extortion and intimidation, triggering protests

According to reports, a large crowd gathered outside the councillor’s residence on Sunday night and allegedly vandalised property, including his vehicle.
Local residents accused the councillor of being involved in extortion and intimidation for a prolonged period. People in the area claimed he frequently threatened residents and misused his influence, leading to growing resentment within the locality.
