The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is set to consider the resignations of Champat Rai
July 6, 2026: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is expected to meet on Monday to formally consider the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra, who stepped down following the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement controversy. According to sources, the Trust is also likely to express regret over the incident and reaffirm its commitment to transparency and restoring the confidence of devotees. Although both leaders have resigned, they have been invited to attend the meeting.
With Champat Rai no longer serving as General Secretary, the meeting has been convened by Treasurer Govind Dev Giri under exceptional provisions. Sources said no new trustees are expected to be appointed during Monday’s meeting. Instead, a separate meeting is likely to be held next month to fill the vacancies after internal consultations on the Trust’s future organisational structure.
The Trust is expected to discuss five key agenda items, including the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, the preliminary findings of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), measures to improve transparency in handling temple donations, and approval of its financial statements for the 2025–26 financial year. If both resignations are accepted, the Trust will have three vacant trustee positions, including one that has remained unfilled since the death of a trustee in August 2025.
