July 1, 2026: Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital after being diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. According to a medical bulletin issued by Medanta Hospital, the 89-year-old was brought to the emergency department on June 29 in an unconscious condition. Following preliminary examinations, doctors confirmed that he was suffering from a urinary tract infection.

The hospital said Mahant Nritya Gopal Das is currently receiving treatment in the ICU under the supervision of critical care specialist Dr. Dilip and his team. A panel of specialist doctors is closely monitoring his condition and providing all necessary medical care.

His hospitalisation comes just days before a key meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, scheduled for July 6. The meeting is expected to discuss developments following the resignations of trustees Champat Rai and Anil Mishra amid the controversy over alleged missing donations linked to the Ram Temple. Owing to age-related health issues, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had attended some previous Trust meetings virtually, and it remains uncertain whether he will be able to participate in the upcoming meeting, according to sources.
