RJD Leader Slams NDA Over Migration, Jobs Crisis
May 1, 2026: On International Workers’ Day, Tejashwi Yadav took a sharp dig at the NDA government, suggesting that Bihar be renamed “Shramik Pradesh” to reflect its identity as a major labour-supplying state. Without directly naming Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, he mocked BJP leaders for their focus on renaming, proposing that Labour Day be called “Bihar Samarpit Diwas” or even that Bihar be termed a “Labour State.”
Tejashwi alleged that Bihar has lagged in industrial growth over the past 21 years while continuing to lead in labour migration. He accused the NDA government of failing to take concrete steps to stop migration, forcing workers to leave the state for employment. Targeting the “double-engine government,” he claimed its policies have disproportionately hurt labourers, triggering large-scale migration and worsening economic conditions for workers.
He further highlighted the struggles faced by migrant workers, alleging that Biharis often face abuse and discrimination in other states. He blamed policies such as demonetisation and lockdowns for aggravating their situation and said the state government has not created adequate livelihood opportunities even after workers returned home. Calling for action, Tejashwi urged people to take a pledge on Labour Day to push for better employment, improved living conditions, and meaningful progress for workers.
