The government has officially recognised six armed forces personnel who lost their lives during Operation Sindoor
June 26, 2026: The personnel honoured are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Murali Naik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, and Indian Air Force Sergeant Surendra Kumar. The inclusion of their names in the National War Memorial’s official Roll of Honour formally records their contribution to one of India’s significant recent military operations.
The memorial’s Tyag Chakra (Circle of Sacrifice), consisting of 16 granite walls, commemorates members of the armed forces who have laid down their lives in service of the nation since Independence. Their names now stand alongside other military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2025.
Operation Sindoor was launched as India’s military response against terror infrastructure in Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir last year. The operation represented a major phase in India’s counter-terrorism efforts and involved coordinated action by the armed forces. By officially recognising the six fallen personnel, the government has highlighted their courage and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to honouring those who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty.
