The NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) leader said the party has neither agreed to support the Delimitation Bill nor plans to join the BJP-led NDA.

July 15, 2026: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) working president and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday dismissed reports claiming her party would support the Centre’s proposed Delimitation Bill or join the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Sule described the reports as “completely baseless” and said the party had neither received any proposal nor taken any decision on the issue. She added that the party would examine the Bill only after it is officially introduced in Parliament.

Sule said the speculation stemmed from a newspaper report based on unnamed sources and did not represent the party’s official position. She stated that the NCP (SP) would study the proposed legislation in detail and announce its stand within 24 hours after the Bill is tabled. Before addressing the media, she said she had consulted party chief Sharad Pawar, senior leaders, MLAs, MPs, and allies in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to avoid confusion.

Rejecting rumours of joining the NDA, Sule said the party remained committed to its current political position and had received no offer from the alliance. She also clarified that Sharad Pawar’s recent visit to Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s office in the Maharashtra Assembly was purely due to convenience, explaining that the veteran leader has difficulty walking long distances and that Shinde had simply greeted him courteously.
