The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Neeraj Kumar Sinha as its new candidate for the Bankipur Assembly by-election, replacing Abhishek Kumar, who withdrew from the race just a day after filing his nomination. In a statement, Abhishek thanked the BJP's central and state leadership for selecting him as the NDA candidate but said he was unable to contest due to family reasons.
The election battle for the Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar officially began on Thursday as BJP candidate Abhishek Kumar Sinha and RJD nominee Rekha Kumari filed their nomination papers. Before filing his nomination, Sinha, popularly known as Bunty, offered prayers at local temples and sought his parents' blessings.
