BJP Leader Seeks EC Action Ahead of Counting Day

May 3, 2026: With vote counting set for May 4, the political temperature in West Bengal has sharply risen. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has flagged serious concerns over the integrity of the counting process, alleging that officials assigned to counting duties are sharing sensitive deployment details, including roles and locations, with external organisations.

Adhikari claimed that screenshots circulating on social media indicate that some officers have disclosed their assignments either voluntarily or under pressure. He warned that the fairness of the counting process depends on strict confidentiality and that any breach could undermine the credibility of election results. He also raised concerns that such data collection might be used to influence officials and tilt the outcome.

Calling for urgent intervention, Adhikari urged the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer of the state to take immediate action. He demanded strict guidelines to prevent officials from sharing duty-related information and sought an investigation into organisations allegedly collecting such sensitive data.
