Maurya’s remarks on alleged Ram Temple donation irregularities draw sharp reactions from saints
June 24, 2026: A fresh controversy has erupted over the alleged Ram Temple donation irregularity case after former minister Swami Prasad Maurya made provocative remarks during a public gathering. Referring to the controversy, Maurya claimed that crores of rupees along with gold and silver offerings had allegedly been stolen from the temple. He questioned why Lord Ram had not punished those responsible and remarked that if a deity could not protect its own temple, people would naturally raise questions about protecting devotees.
The statement triggered strong reactions from religious leaders in Ayodhya. Saint Vishnudas Maharaj condemned Maurya’s remarks and announced a reward of ₹5 lakh for anyone who cuts off his tongue, accusing him of repeatedly making comments against Sanatan Dharma and Hindu traditions. His response further intensified the controversy and sparked widespread debate among devotees and political observers.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav questioned the credibility of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged donation irregularities. In a social media post, he argued that an SIT functioning without an FIR was ineffective, comparing it to “a bow without an arrow.” Yadav alleged that the investigation appeared more focused on concealing facts than uncovering them and demanded stronger action to ensure accountability. The exchange of statements has deepened the political and religious debate surrounding the Ram Temple donation controversy.
