Three Workers Die After Suspected Gas Leak at Ludhiana Factory

Police have launched an investigation and are preparing legal action against the factory management after a suspected gas leak claimed three lives.

June 1, 2026: A suspected gas leak at a manufacturing unit in Ludhiana’s Industrial Area-A resulted in the death of three workers and left two others unconscious on Monday. The incident occurred at Deep Tools, a factory involved in the production of hand tools. Emergency teams rushed to the site after workers reportedly fell ill while carrying out cleaning operations inside the factory premises.

According to initial reports, the workers were cleaning a sewage area when they were allegedly exposed to toxic fumes. Three workers lost their lives during the incident, while two others were admitted to a hospital for treatment. Officials have stated that the condition of the injured workers is currently stable.

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said legal action is being initiated against those found responsible. An FIR is being registered at Moti Nagar Police Station, and authorities are investigating the exact nature of the gas involved. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said preliminary findings indicate possible negligence, and a case against the factory management is likely to be registered as the investigation continues.
