Maharashtra minister Uday Samant has indicated that more leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT)
June 23, 2026: Maharashtra minister Uday Samant on Tuesday suggested that the political turbulence within Shiv Sena (UBT) is far from over, hinting that additional leaders may soon join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. His remarks came a day after six Lok Sabha MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray camp formally switched allegiance to the Shinde faction. Samant described the latest developments as only the beginning, saying that more “political explosions” could take place in the coming days.
Speaking to reporters, Samant said the growing support for Eknath Shinde reflects confidence in his leadership and claimed that several leaders are choosing to join the party voluntarily. He also revealed that the next focus of the Shinde camp would be the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and legislators aligned with Shiv Sena (UBT). His comments have intensified speculation about possible defections among corporators, MLAs and MLCs ahead of key political battles in Maharashtra.
The crisis within Shiv Sena (UBT) deepened after reports that several legislators skipped an emergency meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray. The six MPs who joined the Shinde faction are Sanjay Haribhau Jadhav, Bhausaheb Rajaram Wakchaure, Omprakash Bhupalsingh Nimbalkar, Sanjay Dina Patil, Sanjay Uttamrao Deshmukh and Nagesh Bapurao Patil Ashtikar. The latest setback comes nearly four years after the 2022 rebellion led by Eknath Shinde, which split the Shiv Sena and reshaped Maharashtra politics.
