Uttarakhand Clears ₹495 Crore For Roads, Kumbh & Civic Projects

The Uttarakhand government has approved nearly ₹495 crore for infrastructure, urban development, Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations

July 8, 2026: The Uttarakhand government has approved financial and administrative sanctions worth around ₹495 crore for a wide range of infrastructure, urban development and public welfare projects across the state. The approvals, cleared by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, include funding for road construction, tourism infrastructure, religious sites, public utilities and civic development. The government has also sanctioned ₹43.87 crore for power infrastructure related to the 2027 Kumbh Mela, with ₹17.55 crore released as the first instalment to ensure uninterrupted electricity during the event.

Several road improvement projects have been approved in Narendra Nagar, Laksar, Sitarganj and Pithoragarh districts. The government also cleared ₹38.58 crore for a multi-level parking facility in Ramnagar, ₹3.05 crore for an adventure park in Champawat, and funding for development works at temples, a Women’s Technology Park, a child care facility in Didihat, and new infrastructure for the 31st Battalion PAC in Rudrapur. Urban local bodies will receive ₹328.28 crore, while district panchayats have been allocated ₹82.21 crore for the second quarter of the 2026-27 financial year.

Apart from development projects, the state government approved an increase in dearness allowance for employees under the Fifth and Sixth Central Pay Commission pay scales. Effective January 1, 2026, DA under the Fifth Pay Commission has been raised from 474% to 483%, while employees under the Sixth Pay Commission will receive an increase from 257% to 262%. The government also approved renaming two roads in Almora district in honour of Sahibzade Fateh Singh and late statehood activist Puran Singh Dangwal.
