Ajmer Police are investigating claims of a fake NEET paper leak racket after a student leader reported

June 21, 2026: Ajmer Police have launched an investigation into allegations of a NEET paper leak and an alleged fraud targeting medical aspirants ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination. The probe began after DAV College student union president Krishna Singh Thakur filed a complaint claiming that students were being shown an alleged NEET question paper during video calls and asked to pay Rs 30,000 for access. Thakur said he personally contacted the number after receiving information from a fresher and was allegedly shown a paper along with a QR code for payment. He submitted the call recording, phone number and QR code to the police as evidence.

According to Thakur, several students may have already fallen victim to the scheme. He urged aspirants not to be misled by such claims and instead focus on their preparation. Additional Superintendent of Police Himanshu Jangid has been informed of the matter, and investigators are now attempting to trace the mobile number and bank account linked to the QR code. Authorities are also examining whether the paper shown during the video call was genuine or fabricated to deceive candidates.

Ajmer SP Usha Yadav said police are conducting a detailed investigation and warned students against falling prey to cyber fraudsters who often become active during examination periods. Officials are also exploring whether the incident is connected to a larger paper-leak network or is simply a new form of online scam. The investigation comes as more than 22 lakh candidates appear for the NEET-UG re-test, which is being conducted under unprecedented security measures after the original exam was cancelled over paper leak allegations. The examination is being held at 5,440 centres across India and 14 overseas locations under extensive surveillance.
