DK Shivakumar praised Siddaramaiah’s rise from rural Karnataka to the state’s top political leadership, calling him a guiding force in Congress politics.

May 29, 2026: D. K. Shivakumar paid tribute to senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah, describing his political journey as a remarkable example of perseverance, commitment and public service. Reflecting on Siddaramaiah’s rise from a small village in Mysuru district to becoming Karnataka’s longest-serving Chief Minister, Shivakumar said his career proved that opportunities and hard work shape an individual’s destiny.

Shivakumar praised Siddaramaiah for consistently standing with the poor and marginalised sections of society and said his welfare-oriented governance had left a lasting impact on Karnataka politics. He highlighted Siddaramaiah’s five decades of political experience and credited him for introducing people-centric schemes and development initiatives that would continue to be remembered in the state’s political history.

Recalling their long political association within the Congress party, Shivakumar said Siddaramaiah had guided and supported him since he became Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president in 2020. He described serving alongside Siddaramaiah as both a privilege and a learning experience. Quoting the proverb, “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk together,” Shivakumar reaffirmed his commitment to collective leadership and said Siddaramaiah’s experience and values would continue to inspire the party and the state.
