Former BJP leader Anoop Raghav has launched the Cheenti Janta Party in Uttar Pradesh, saying it will focus on grassroots issues
June 7, 20226: Anoop Raghav, a former BJP leader who spent nearly three decades with the party, has launched a new political outfit called the Cheenti Janta Party (CJP) in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Announcing the party’s formation, Raghav said the ant, or “cheenti,” symbolizes hard work, discipline, unity, and perseverance. He stated that the new platform aims to represent ordinary citizens and marginalized communities whose concerns often go unheard in mainstream politics.
Explaining the party’s vision, Raghav said the Cheenti Janta Party will focus on grassroots engagement and direct communication with the public. According to him, many local issues affecting common people require greater political attention. The party plans to strengthen its organizational network at the local level and encourage active public participation in addressing community concerns.
Looking ahead, Raghav announced that the party intends to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He said his decision to leave the BJP stemmed from difficulties in raising issues related to corruption and public welfare within the existing political framework. While emphasizing that the party will not oppose the government merely for political reasons, he indicated that protests and public campaigns, including a possible demonstration at Jantar Mantar, may be organized to highlight unresolved public issues.
