The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ campaign to connect students of government schools with innovation
May 20, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ campaign to introduce innovation-driven and technology-based learning in Parishadiya Vidyalayas and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state. Under the initiative, the government aims to expose students in rural and semi-urban government schools to scientific thinking, deep technology and research-oriented education that was previously associated mainly with major institutions and urban centres.
As part of the programme, seminars, technology-based special classes, innovation quizzes and creative competitions will be organised in schools during May 2026. Activities will include discussions on India’s evolving innovation landscape, deep technology awareness sessions, essay writing and quiz competitions designed to promote curiosity, creativity and problem-solving abilities among students. Officials said the initiative seeks to prepare children for future technological and scientific challenges while encouraging an innovation culture at the grassroots level.
The government also plans to involve local experts and voluntary organisations to make the activities more interactive and effective. Photos, videos and reports related to school activities will be documented as part of the campaign. The initiative is being viewed as an extension of the broader education modernisation drive of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, which already includes programmes such as the NIPUN Bharat Mission, smart classrooms, digital monitoring and school rejuvenation projects.
