The BJP has fielded Neeraj Kumar Sinha for the Bankipur Assembly by-election after Abhishek Kumar withdrew from the contest citing family reasons.
July 10, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Neeraj Kumar Sinha as its new candidate for the Bankipur Assembly by-election, replacing Abhishek Kumar, who withdrew from the race just a day after filing his nomination. In a statement, Abhishek thanked the BJP’s central and state leadership for selecting him as the NDA candidate but said he was unable to contest due to family reasons. He added that he would continue serving the party as a dedicated worker. The Bankipur seat became vacant after BJP leader Nitin Navin resigned as MLA following his election to the Rajya Sabha.
The BJP has also named Ashutosh Tiwari as its candidate for the Datia Assembly by-election. The last date for filing nominations for both bypolls is July 13, with political parties intensifying preparations for the upcoming contests.
Neeraj Kumar Sinha, born in Patna on July 1, 1994, has been associated with the BJP since 2006. A Bachelor of Arts graduate, he has served in several organisational roles, including Booth President, Mandal General Secretary, BJYM District Vice-President, and Mandal President. He currently heads the Narendra Bharti Mandal, named after his late uncle Narendra Bharti, a dedicated Bharatiya Jana Sangh worker, reflecting the family’s long-standing association with the BJP’s ideological roots.
