Despite the multi-million dollar infrastructure and cutting-edge technology including Hawk-Eye and Ultra-Edge, the IPL 2026 season has been defined as much by its “human errors” as its high-octane cricket.

As the tournament progresses, fans on social media have voiced massive outrage over a series of contentious decisions that many believe have altered the course of key matches. From boundary-rope blunders to debatable dismissals for obstructing the field, here are five incidents that left the cricketing world fuming.

1. Jason Holder’s “Grass-Scraper” Catch vs RCB

The most recent flashpoint occurred during the GT vs RCB clash on April 30, involving Gujarat Titans’ Jason Holder. Holder completed a diving catch at the boundary to dismiss RCB captain Rajat Patidar, a moment that left Virat Kohli visibly fuming in the dugout. While the third umpire ruled that Holder had full control, broadcast replays suggested the ball may have scraped the grass during the process. The decision proved pivotal, as RCB struggled to recover their momentum following the skipper’s exit.

2. Heinrich Klaasen’s Boundary Robbery

In the season opener, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen was left fuming after being adjudged caught out by Phil Salt on the boundary. Eagle-eyed fans on ‘X’ shared frame-by-frame screengrabs showing Salt’s foot allegedly “kissing” the boundary cushion. Despite the visual evidence of a deflection, third umpire Rohan Pandit upheld the dismissal. Klaasen later took to social media, calling the blunder a “turning point” that cost SRH the match.

3. The Hasty Dismissal of Finn Allen

Kolkata Knight Riders’ Finn Allen fell victim to what fans called a “rushed” decision during a game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Digvesh Rathi claimed a catch inches from the rope, and while replays indicated Rathi’s foot brushed the cushion, third umpire KN Anantha Padmanabhan ruled Allen out without an extensive multi-angle review. KKR eventually lost the match on the final ball, making the lost six runs even more agonizing for the franchise.

4. Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s “Obstructing the Field”

In a rare and highly debated call, KKR’s Angkrish Raghuvanshi was given out for obstructing the field after being struck by a Mohammed Shami throw. While KKR fans labeled the decision “unfair,” the MCC eventually intervened to back the umpire’s ruling, explaining that Raghuvanshi’s change of direction was a “wilful act” that hindered the fielding side. Nevertheless, the incident remains one of the most polarizing moments of the 2026 season.

5. Arshad Khan’s Unnoticed No-Ball

Technology failed to save Jamie Overton during a GT vs CSK encounter. Replays clearly showed Gujarat Titans’ bowler Arshad Khan overstepping the crease on the fifth ball of the 18th over. Unbelievably, neither the on-field nor the third umpire called the no-ball. Adding salt to the wound, Overton was dismissed on the very next delivery—a ball that should have been a Free Hit had the previous illegal delivery been called correctly.
