Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says regional oil and gas exports could be disrupted as tensions with the US escalate over the Strait of Hormuz.

July 15, 2026: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that it could halt oil and gas exports from the Middle East following the United States’ decision to reimpose a naval blockade on Iranian ports. In a statement, the IRGC declared that “the export of oil and gas from the region will be either for everyone or for no one,” signaling a sharp escalation in the ongoing standoff.

The warning comes amid continuing retaliatory actions between Iran and the United States, with both sides competing for strategic influence over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes. The developments have heightened concerns about the possibility of a wider regional conflict.

US President Donald Trump announced the renewed naval blockade earlier this week. He had also proposed imposing a 20% transit fee on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz but later withdrew the proposal following requests from Gulf allies. The latest exchange of threats has further intensified tensions in the region.
