Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a difficult start to the Indian Premier League 2026 season, losing three of their first four matches. However, their campaign received a major lift after a commanding 57-run victory over Rajasthan Royals on Monday.

The emphatic win not only improved morale within the squad but also helped the team identify two promising pacers who could play key roles in strengthening their bowling attack for the remainder of the season.

Pat Cummins Set To Rejoin SRH Squad Soon

In further positive news for SRH, regular captain Pat Cummins is expected to return to the squad soon.

According to reports, the Australian fast bowler is likely to arrive in Hyderabad on April 17, just ahead of the team’s next home fixture against Chennai Super Kings scheduled for April 18.

Cummins has not played in the ongoing season due to a persistent back injury that has kept him away from top-level cricket for an extended period.

Providing an update on his recovery, Cummins said he has resumed bowling sessions and is gradually increasing his workload.

He explained that he is currently bowling every third day under a structured rehabilitation plan designed to prepare him for the second half of the tournament. If recovery continues without setbacks, he hopes to play during the latter stages of the league and potentially feature in the knockout rounds.

Cummins Returned To Australia For Medical Tests

The 32-year-old had initially travelled to India before the tournament began but later returned to Australia after SRH’s second match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 2.

The trip was necessary for medical scans related to his back injury. Reports suggest Cummins is now expected to undergo a fitness test within the next 24 hours to determine his match readiness.

His return could significantly strengthen SRH’s bowling unit, especially given his leadership experience and ability to perform in high-pressure situations.

Mitchell Starc’s IPL Return Still Unclear

While SRH await Cummins’ return, uncertainty continues to surround Mitchell Starc, who is part of the Delhi Capitals squad.

Starc has missed matches since the start of the season due to ongoing rehabilitation for shoulder and elbow injuries.

In an Instagram update shared on March 28, the left-arm pacer said he remained in regular contact with team management and hoped to return to action as soon as possible.

However, with more than 20 matches already played in IPL 2026, there is still no clear timeline regarding his availability, raising doubts about whether he will feature in the tournament at all this year.

SRH Look To Build Momentum In IPL 2026

With momentum now on their side following the win over Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be eager to maintain their upward trajectory.

The potential return of Pat Cummins could provide much-needed leadership and depth to the bowling attack, while uncertainty around Mitchell Starc remains a separate concern for Delhi Capitals.

As the tournament progresses into its crucial middle phase, player fitness and squad balance are likely to play decisive roles in shaping the fortunes of teams across IPL 2026.
