Mama Qadeer Baloch and Nargis Baloch receive global recognition for their relentless fight against enforced disappearances in Balochistan.
Balochistan [Pakistan], March 13: The Focus Asia Foundation (FAF) has officially nominated Mama Qadeer Baloch, Vice Chief of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), and Nargis Baloch (Hooran) for the prestigious Nelson Mandela Prize 2025, according to Balochistan Post.
This United Nations honor is awarded to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to human rights, social justice, and peace, making their nomination a significant milestone in the global recognition of Balochistan’s humanitarian crisis.
For over 15 years, Mama Qadeer and Nargis Baloch have fearlessly spoken out against enforced disappearances and human rights violations in Balochistan, providing a platform for the families of missing persons and amplifying their voices on international forums.
The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has officially confirmed their nomination, a move that underscores growing global acknowledgment of the state of oppression in Balochistan.
‘The Struggle Continues’: Mama Qadeer’s Fight for Justice
On Wednesday, while addressing the VBMP protest camp—now in its 5,758th day—Mama Qadeer Baloch condemned the increasing number of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.
🔹 He criticized Pakistani authorities for suppressing media coverage of these atrocities and instead promoting state-sponsored narratives.
🔹 Political and social activists, including Ameer Bakhsh Baloch, Allah Bakhsh Baloch, and Elahi Bakhsh, visited the protest camp in Khuzdar to express solidarity with the families of the missing.
🔹 “The world must recognize the silent suffering of the Baloch people. We demand justice, not silence,” he said.
Growing Global Recognition: Nobel Peace Prize Nomination for Mahrang Baloch
The nomination of Mama Qadeer and Nargis Baloch follows another major international recognition for Baloch human rights defenders.
Recently, Mahrang Baloch, a prominent activist and organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), was nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
🔹 Expressing her gratitude, Mahrang Baloch stated:
“This nomination is not for me but for the countless victims of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. Their struggle must not be forgotten.”
